Our goal is to get books into the hands of children

around the world...in their own language.

For both Classroom and Homeschool Teachers
  • Guided Reading Programs for grades 3-12

  • Teaching Black History through Literature and Media

  • Life Skills for Adolescents

We would like to share ideas and information, and to inspire and foster a love for reading, learning, and growing within these pages. Over the years Vicki has taught Kindergarten through 12th grade. She has created her own guided reading programs with a selection of chapter books that support reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency. These lessons can be taught to all learning levels.

Using a variety of research and media resources we have created lesson plans, visual learning experiences, writing assignments that make sense, and build reading comprehension and vocabulary into each learning experience.

Grades 3-12

and

Teens & Adults

We have helped children and adults learn or improve their reading skills through our Guided Reading programs. Different reading levels are addressed through book assignments and exercises. Guided reading helps students learn through reading and understanding the worksheet questions (reading comprehension) together with the story. This style of learning promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Chapter books range in reading levels from elementary school through high school, and beyond.

We have worked with many adults who have fallen through the cracks of education by being unseen -- usually the "good kid" in the back who is too shy to ask for help. We'd love to help improve your reading and comprehension skills.

Teaching Black History

through

Literature and Media

This program was designed to stimulate reluctant (or left out) learners by building their confidence through visual experiential learning that supported what they were reading.

Utilizing English Language Arts assignments, students learn to write comparative essays, persuasive essays, and other assignments answering comprehension questions as they progress. Connecting reading and media is a great way to learn.

Teaching Life-Skills

to Adolescents

These lessons are geared toward young adults and teach them how to perform job searches, look for a place to live, learn HOW to complete job or apartment applications. Ongoing discussions around future plans: paths to jobs, college, or trade school. Entrepreneurial ventures like writing business plans, or  other aspirations that are revealed as young people learn how to access all that is necessary to move forward in life.

These lessons are made available by special request.

to be announced...

If you're interested in online tutoring, please send a note and we can discuss a plan just for you. Thank you
