A Brief History

Our Photography Logo and Name, "Bleeding Heart Photography" came about

when I lived in Vermont and took this gorgeous shot of the Bleeding Heart flower.

My brother Dave Brunner (pictured above) and I started taking photography classes together over the summers in high school. In our classes, I used a Yaashika-Mat twin lens reflex camera, while Dave used a 35mm camera. We had the amazing experience of shooting pictures, developing the film in a dark-room, and printing the photos.

Dave started my website in 1988 and named my business Vicki Davey Productions. I went with it because he launched my website and managed it until he passed away suddenly in 2021. This year, in 2025, we are rebranding our products with a new business name -- Somerset Productions. Why? Well, for one thing it was weird having my business name as my own. I'm renaming it Somerset Productions because that is the setting where these stories are developed. When I moved away from home at 18, I moved to Somerset Farms in Shadow Hills. What a great place to set out on my own. So, there you have it. Vicki Davey Productions, will now go by Somerset Productions and our new address/URL is

www.somersetprod.com

Thank you!

~ ABOUT OUR PHOTOS ~

All of the photos in these collections were taken by Vicki Davey dating back to 1988, with some dating back even further. Photos were taken from various locations in the United States, as well as from some of the Caribbean Islands including the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, and Cozumel Island of Mexico.

As an instructor of Digital Photography at Twin Valley High School in Wilmington, VT, Vicki instructed her students as they worked to develop their own websites and projects in photography. They would "play" with Photoshop using techniques for Photo Art with Color Splash and other tricks of the trade. Vicki uses these techniques today as she works on "painting" parts of her illustrations in "Adventures with Little Eloise," her picture book series for young readers.

For 20 years Dave maintained the technology and machinery with his team at the U.S. Post Office bulk mail facility in Dallas/Fort Worth. He was also a tech-wiz in his side businesses.

He started my first website and encouraged me to become more tech-savvy.

Dave was ahead of the times with drones. He created his own drone using a model-helicopter and attached a camera to it so that he could get birds-eye view photos of his 5-acre ranch, Rocking B Llamas.

Dave and his family raised llamas and showed them in parades and events when his daughters were young. Our grandmother gave him his first Llama named Chaco, who is a character in the story "Lady Eloise and Friends” (our chapter-book for older readers).

Dave was extremely talented in anything he attempted. He excelled in woodworking and made me a gorgeous cedar Hope Chest when he was in high school. No one could believe such an advanced and beautiful creation was made by a high school student. Dave continued to excel in his craft as another side-business and built some incredible pieces of furniture. For example, as a fun project for one of his friends, Dave built a portion of a pirate ship from the "Pirates of the Caribbean". He made the plank into the pool’s diving board.
